Christmas Through the Year show time and a Royal Wedding

I've signed up to complete a project for Christmas through the Year - thanks Allie for giving us the deadline!!  I'm off to have a sort out of the sewing room so that I can be ready to go when Kate and Will are strutting their stuff.  Should be lots of fun to watch and keep sewing at the same time.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

This little bear was made with Terease from Homespun and Beautiful - she is so cute.  Has lots of character.  My two year old loves her so much that I made a version for her as well - but she keeps coming back to this little girl.  I've called her Honey.  She can't wait to go picnicking with her friends.

Easter holidays are over

The holidays are over for another term.  Here are some photos we took while we were away.
Miss Two on Easter Sunday morning.  She so enjoyed eating every bit of the bunny.  This was her first Easter where she could "anticipate" the Easter Bunny's arrival.  All very exciting.

The view from our front door.  It was as peaceful as it looked.  Would love to be back there now!

Bargara Beach - one of the most magical locations anywhere.  We had lunch here to celebrate our second son's 14th birthday (where did that time go?).  It was a lovely day.

One Flower Wednesdays

This is my first One Flower Wednesday.  And here are three that I have made.

Until next Wednesday.

Last day of school holidays

This is it. Back to routine tomorrow. I love not having that routine and constantly looking at my watch. Oh well. It's only 10 weeks to the next lot!

Visite the relocated "The Quilter's Shack

Visited the relocated Bundaberg shop "The Quilters Shack" today. Looking good and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Gave me some new thoughts on my hexagonal quilts. The quilts hanging up are so inspirational. Lots if stitcheries as well as beautiful dolls and gorgeous teddies. If you're up this way stop and say hello. Just gorgeous

Reverse sewing night

Spent 5 hours reverse sewing last night. Some of you may remember a significant birthday I had recently - ok maybe not so recent - which I received lots of material to turn into a quilt to commemorate what I was trying hard to forget. Well I have made progress on said quilt but it has languished in the UFO pile for some time. Last night I looked at it yet again and finally decided how to finish it. But it meant lots of changes!!  Hence the unpicking - and it was all hand sewing. Took me 5 hours to unpick - what does that equate with the time it must have taken to actually sew it in the first place? Watch this space for some photos soon.

Holiday going well

We're here and we've had some rain. As the 2 Yr old turned the tap on for the tank and let it run it has been welcomed!! My sewing is progressing nicely. I've been working on my hexagonal quilt which is made up of 10339 1/2 inch hexagons. Very enjoyable nut progress is slow! Spent today cutting little hexagons out and basting them on to the paper templates. Lots of fun.

Only 1 hour and forty-eight minutes to go

Here we are at Gympie. Stopping for a coffee. Over half way now. It'll be dark by the time we get there but that's ok. Been a bit rainy but not too bad for driving.

Friday Night Sew In - Photos (I hope!)

This is the pocket for the apron of the doll I've been working on.  Debbie Magee Design - Washday Winnie.  It was in Homespun last year.  I made her then in green with red trim.  This time I'm using purples with a green mint trim.  You're supposed to use an old doiley for the pocket - I don't have many of those, so made this one myself!!

The first block I've done for Gardener's Journal.  I know the stitchalong is over, but I've seen so many nice quilts on the blog that I've succumbed to the temptation.

The first block in the Home Sweet Home BOM.  I've stitched this one, but have also put together some in an applique version.  Didn't get to stitch those last night.

These are my completed blocks for 'Tis the Season.  I have to add two more borders.  I ran out of time to do this last night.  I'm now going to be working on the smaller projects included in the book.

This is the doll I'm working on.  I didn't do this at FNSI, but the pocket is for her, so thought I'd include a picture.  I have some more work to do - like her face and she has laces on her boots.  She'll be a hanging dolly as well.  And there is a button to go on her collar, but I like the way she is coming along.  It's been lots of fun.

So that's it for me.  I'm off on holidays today with the whole family.  We have land near Bundaberg and will be staying there.  I've packed lots of hand stitching.  I'm hoping to mainly work on my hexagon quilts.  My daughter and I are making a yo-yo quilt as well.  We have lots of pieces cut out for that.  It's been an eventful first few months to 2011, so hoping for a quiet and relaxing holiday.  Will follow blogs on my phone.

Friday night sew in

I've had a very productive night. Finished stitching'Tis the Season - the top is now complete. Finished a stitchery for the pocket of my latest doll, completed my first stitchery from the Gardener's Journal by Anniversary Downes and the first block of home Sweet Home. Not bad!! I'll post pictures tomorrow. Bed now.

Schoo holidays have started

School holidays start today for most of Qld. Yeh!! A week and a bit without routine!! We're off on holidays to our little piece of country up near Bundaberg. I'll be taking lots of hand sewing with me. Should be great weather for it. Kids will still want to swim - but a pleasant walk along the beach will be something to look forward to.

Boys will be boys!

Spent a few hours at the local hospital tonight. Our third boy took a dive at rugby training and took several layers of skin off. 7 stitches later and one very sore knee we are home. He's going surprisingly well. Changed my plans for the evening!

Overlocking class

Back from my second overlocking class.  It's a machine I don't use a lot - except when I'm making pyjamas and dance costumes.  It can do so much more.  Need to "think outside the square" sometimes and these classes with Wendy do just that.  Lots of fun.

Another week has ended

It's Saturday again.  No footy - our boys have a bye.  They're not pleased but I am.  We have youth group this afternoon.  Otherwise the day is mine!  I'm going to start a new doll - something I haven't done in months.  She's by Debbie Magee of Always Stitchin'.  Called Peggy (I think) - she was in Homespun.  I have made her once before, but want to make her again using a different set of colours.  Tomorrow I have to take my oldest son to abseiling.  So, it's going to be a very early morning!!  Happy sewing everyone.

Book Received

Thanks to Narelle, I've just received the book "The Alpine Quilt".  I've had some late nights finishing Union Quilters - the latest for Jennifer Chiaverini and the Elm Creek Quilters.  Looking forward to having "The Alpine Quilt for the coming school holidays.  Thanks so much Narelle.

Back home again

We're back in our own home again. Threats in our lives seem to have calmed a bit. Knowing this person it will all happen again. We're increasing our security and hoping our guardian angels continue to protect us all. It would be nice to move but it's not that easy to do!!
I've been following blogs even though I haven't been writing much.

Had a great sewing day today. Learning more about my overlocker with Wendy our local sewing teacher/guru! I really only use it for dance costumes but it could do do much more.

Cheers
